Iaido
Iaido - The Way of the Draw. Iaido is martial arts training focusing on techniques drawing and cutting an opponent suddenly. This is martial arts training done with a blunt practice katana (called an iaito) for sword training.
Our school has between four and six techniques which must be mastered before achieving a new rank. Most techniques begin from a seated position (suwariwaza), and eventually from a standing position (tachiwaza).
In addition, we practice bokken kata as supplemental training.
What do I need to begin?
For your first class, only a willingness to learn is required. You will be supplied with an obi (belt) and a bokken or iaito (blunt practice sword) for training.
There is no secret to mastery. Hard work and time result in expertise.
